Harvey Public Schools District 152 believes that homework is a very important part of a child's education. It provides students with the practice necessary to make use of basic skills taught in the classroom. Homework can also be used to provide reinforcement, practice, appication and enrichment of what is learned in class. Since it is an important part of a child's education, homework is regularly assigned at all grade levels and in most subjects.
Purpose
- Provide reinforcement, practice, application and enrichment of what is learned in class
- Serve as a link between home and school
- Develop good study habits and responsibility for student learning
- Provide students with an opportunity to utilize a variety of resources
- Resources - Public Library, Police Station, Fire Department
Responsibility of Student:
- Complete and return homework on time
- Record and keep track of all assignments
- Ask for help as needed
- Review the teacher's corrections/comments and share with parents
Responsibility of Parent:
- Set time for homework
- Provide a quiet area for child to complete homework and/or study
- Inquire if child has homework
- Review the corrected homework returned by the teacher
- Contact the school when there are questions or concerns about homework
- Make arrangements to obtain homework for students who are absent
