Principal's Message

Iretha Brown, Principal
Dear Angelou Parents/Guardians,

It’s amazing that the school year has come to a close!  Our theme for this year was Be the One, and our staff and students worked diligently toward academic success. Angelou’s mission to consider the needs and interests of the “whole-child” is an ongoing initiative. Our dedicated staff support students academically and socially by providing rich student-centered learning experiences in the classroom and beyond. Students were acknowledged and celebrated throughout the year for honor roll, perfect attendance, meeting their individual reading goals, committing to our Peace Pledge, displaying appropriate PBIS behaviors, and more.

Angelou parents have been very instrumental in supporting our school, staff, and students. We are honored to serve your child and look forward to continuing our partnership next school year through various school-wide/family activities. Please stay connected by regularly checking school/staff communication through ClassDojo, our weekly Eagle News, flyers, parent bulletin board, automated phone calls, or visit our website links for daily updates.

On behalf of the entire Angelou staff, thank you and have an enjoyable summer break!

You are always welcome at Maya Angelou Elementary School where we encourage everyone to Be the One!
