Band Director Mr. Joseph Anderson, in his first year teaching at Harvey 152, was inspired by the longstanding legacy of musical excellence he had heard about for years. After sharing the history with his students, the Brooks band believed they might be ready to compete for the first time in four years. Their dedication paid off! Harvey 152 joined Thornton Township High School District 205 to celebrate their 19th Annual Enrichment Foundation Gala. Districts from the area came together to support and recognize the evening's honorees, including Mrs. Ellene Beard, a retired counselor who has been an important part of District 205 since 1973. A special guest, including Harvey native LaRoyce Hawkins of the NBC series Chicago P.D., gave the guests a big surprise. Harvey 152 Board members attended, including Board President Janet Rogers, along with Casey Nesbit, Linda Hawkins, and John Whittington. The partnership between our primary school and the high school district plays an important role in helping our students grow and succeed. Thornton Township includes three high schools: Thornridge, Thornwood, and Thornton, here in Harvey. Congratulations to all the honorees and award winners from the evening.

We are proud to announce that Brooks Middle School students Kevin Linares and Desiree Aaliyah-Konadu have received the "Let Your Light Shine (LYLS)" scholarship at last night’s Harvey 152 school board meeting. These students were awarded $500 and a LYLS certificate to honor the positive difference they have made in their school and community. Last week, teachers from the south suburbs attended the 2026 SDSCC (Superintendents’ Commission) Teachers Conference. This annual event brings educators together to exchange insights on educational advancement and student growth. Harvey 152 was proud to have several staff members serve as trainers. Our teachers contributed expertise on topics ranging from STEM to supporting multilingual learners, also adding a bit of fun during the pack-room line dancing class, taught by our very own Mr. Reed of Holmes School. Our Board of Education was also honored at the Ron Edmonds Scholarship Banquet during the conference's 2 days. Thank you to everyone from Harvey 152 for representing our district so well.
