Last week, Harvey School District 152 hosted the annual district-wide Black History Month event honoring the past and inspiring the future. We’re incredibly proud of the wonderful student performances! We are grateful for all of the community members who attended. A huge thank you to all of the students, staff and families for organizing an incredible event and sharing your talents!

Superintendent Dr. Lawrence recently stopped by to visit our students in the District Math Bowl. Thank you to our dedicated math coaches and good luck to the competitors!

Join us tonight, Feb. 22, for our District-wide Celebrate Black History All Day, Every Day event! We look forward to celebrating Black History through student and staff presentations at Brooks Middle School at 6 p.m. All community members are welcome to attend! Refreshments are available beginning at 5 p.m.

In observance of Presidents Day, Harvey School District 152 will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19. There will be no school for students or staff. Enjoy the long weekend!

Superintendent Dr. Lawrence recently met with Harvey Police Department’s Chief Biddings. Our district goals include community engagement, collective impact, school safety, and partnership that build relationships and uplifts the community. We appreciate and are proud of our community partnerships!

We LOVE our parents and families in Harvey! The recent Bryant Parent University meeting was a success, many thanks to the support of our parents. A special thanks goes to Mrs. Matthews who facilitated the event and Pam Banks from Restoration Ministries for providing giveaways! This month, parents learned about the Illinois Assessment of Readiness Test. Watch for more details coming soon about the next Parent University meeting.

As a reminder, tomorrow Wednesday, Feb. 14, is a School Improvement Day. Students will be released at 12:30 p.m.

This week is National School Counseling Week! We’re proud to acknowledge our school counselors who support our students and staff each and every day. Thank you for being advocates for our students’ success!

Today, Feb. 1, begins Black History Month! Throughout District 152, we are kicking off celebrations honoring the history of our Black community. We look forward to sharing exciting projects, events and presentations created by our students and staff this month.

Dr. Lawrence continues his tours visiting students and staff throughout our busy campuses! This week, he spent time at Holmes Elementary School and Bryant Elementary School.

Last night, Dr. Lawrence was welcomed to the district by staff, parents and community members during his official "Meet & Greet" at Maya Angelou School! Dr. Lawrence, joined by his wife Dr. Pandora Lawrence, spoke to the community about our strategic plan and how we’ll meet our goals. Those in attendance shared their Harvey history and stories to give a glimpse into our community. Dr. Lawrence shared that he is ready to lead, and ready to move forward TOGETHER!

It’s Gala Season! District 152 Superintendent Dr. Reginald Lawrence, Harvey Board of Education members and staff joined other districts for the 2nd Annual UNCF Gala on Friday night. This event provides needed scholarships to high school students in our community.

Join us on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Maya Angelou School at 4:30 p.m. to welcome Dr. Lawrence to the Harvey Community! Open to all district parents, students and elected officials.

Principal Anderson recently gave Superintendent Dr. Lawrence a tour of Bryant Elementary! He enjoyed building mobiles with the kindergarten students during STEM class and sitting in on a math class (his favorite subject).

"The freedom bell is still ringing." Superintendent Dr. Lawrence celebrated the life and mission of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., at the event at South Suburban College in South Holland. We’re proud to see our community unite to celebrate, honor and move forward together.

In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, our buildings will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15.
